I've been writing haiku off and on since 1968, probably more than a thousand during the past 40 years. But this year I've decided to write at least one a week throughout the year. From time to time I might add a picture.
I should add that these will not be written to the classical standards; there won't necessarily be a seasonal reference, for example, and the pattern may vary slightly from the 5-7-5 pattern. (For example, the first haiku I wrote was: The rising sun/shatters the silence in my mind/and cleanses my soul. No seasonal reference, and a 4/8/5 pattern. But nobody's perfect.)
We'll see how it goes.
